Red ocher
from Provence
INCI: Kaolin and iron oxides
origin: France
Description
Those who have visited Provence and Vaucluse know the color of its landscapes. The red ocher of Provence gets its color from its history: more than two hundred million years ago, Provence was covered by water. Then the ocean retreated, leaving behind this ocher sand. This natural earth has been used since prehistoric times as a natural pigment, and traditionally to color handmade soaps.
